About

Shazzan Hakim

Barrister (unregistered), legal technologist and researcher working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, commercial law and international dispute resolution.

Biography

I am an unregistered barrister, called to the Bar of England and Wales by Lincoln's Inn, with a particular interest in the legal and institutional challenges posed by artificial intelligence. My work spans commercial law, international arbitration, legal technology and international economic law, with a growing research focus on AI governance and the regulation of emerging technologies.

I previously served as General Counsel to a real estate tokenisation platform, advising on commercial, regulatory and technology matters. I am also the founder of Tenant Defender, an AI legal platform designed to improve access to housing law through artificial intelligence.

My long-term ambition is to contribute to the development of legal frameworks governing advanced artificial intelligence through research, practice and entrepreneurship. I am particularly interested in AI governance, legal technology, venture capital and private equity fund formation, and how these fields will shape the next generation of legal and financial institutions.
